July (2007), the Interactive Television Institute begAn offering
an on-going, comprehensive introductory online course on Interactive
Television. This is the real thing. If you want to know a lot
more about Interactive Television, take this course. It will be graded
by an instructor and upon passing, students will be offered an optional
free online certificate of achievement. The class is written for those
with little or no Interactive TV experience. It can be considered a
"101" level course and has over 600 questions, all of which are either
multiple choice or true/false. (A webpage that each answer can be found
on is provided for each question.) Topics covered include: The History of Enhanced and Interactive
Television, Enhanced TV, Interactive Television, Electronic Program
Guides (Interactive Program Guides), Walled Gardens, Personal TV
(Digital Video Recorders, a.k.a. DVRs), Video on Demand, Media Centers,
Media Extenders, Portable Digital Devices, Advertising using
Interactive Television, Targeted Advertising, Set–top Boxes, Web TV,
IPTV (Internet Protocol Television), Internet TV and a brief look at
the future of
Interactive TV.
